SCENE IN THE TROPICS

Early Bird, not stork, for Halle

lank@aol.com

Early bird special: Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry was spotted having a 5:30 p.m. dinner at Michael's Genuine Food and Drink with her boyfriend Gabriel Aubry and their 15-month old daughter Nahala Ariela on Wednesday. The trio was with a male pal. Baby ate a beet and tomato salad, picking on dad's chicken and mashed potatoes as well. Berry had the grouper, and the grownups shared a $95 bottle of Faust Cabernet. According to our eavesdropper, Berry said she had been wanting to eat at the restaurant for a while, and had driven around the Design District for an hour waiting for the doors to open. Before hitting Michael's, the family was seen milling around luxe furniture store Poltrona Frau. As soon as the requisite daily summer storm started, Aubry left mom and baby inside while he braved the rains to get the car. Earlier that day, the family was spotted on the beach where spies say Berry may have been sporting a new baby bump under her loosely fitted clothing. We're not buying it. It's 100 degrees out -- why would she wear something tight?

Dale Chapman Webb (the daughter of former Miami Herald publisher Alvah Chapman), the CEO of The Protocol Centre in Coral Gables, knows that etiquette is not an old-fashioned notion. Webb debuted Etiquette Avenue, a new iPhone/iPod Touch application in the Apple Store ($2.99) to help users become more adept at the skills that may save their paycheck and their reputation. Created from the most-asked questions at her Centre, Webb addresses frequent pitfalls of professional protocol, such as how to deliver a proper handshake, how to make introductions, navigate a table setting and when it's appropriate to use your iPhone. Now that's a necessary app!

Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra will be at the Grove outdoor bar in the new W South Beach on Tuesday, along with his players, for the Ocean Drive magazine launch party for Suunto's new Elementum watch collection.
