Herald Staff Report

Miami's own Gloria Estefan will break her four-year hiatus from South Florida stages with a show at 8 p.m. Oct. 24 at Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino near Hollywood. Earlier this week, she told The Miami Herald that the show will be a celebration of her greatest hits and ''a fun party from top to bottom.'' Tickets go on sale at noon Friday and range from $97 to $252. Two bucks from each ticket sold will go to education funds from Indian River to Miami-Dade counties.

Two award-winning acts in one show: Grammy winners The Roots will hit The Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theater with MTV Video Music Award winners Gym Class Heroes. The Roots, a Philly band, is best known for its eclectic approach to hip-hop and live instrumentation, and you've heard the Gym Class Heroes' Clothes Off -- a remake-with-a-twist of Jermaine Stewart's 1986 hit. Concert's set for 7:30 p.m. Oct. 8. Tickets, $37.50 for general admission and $51.50 for reserved seats, go on sale 10 a.m. Friday. Opening for the two acts is Estelle, lately en vogue for her song American Boy,which features Kanye West.

On Nov. 15, the Fillmore will also host British singer-songwriter Joe Jackson, whose hits include the 1979 song Is She Really Going Out with Him?, 1982's Steppin' Out; and 1984's You Can't Get What You Want (Till You Know What You Want). The eclectic performer also won a Best Pop Instrumental Recording Grammy in 2000 for his 1999 Sony Classical release, Symphony No. 1, which featured jazz and rock players instead of a traditional orchestra. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday.

Our favorite St. Louis rapper, Nelly, will play an 18-and-older show Sept. 25 at Revolution Live in Fort Lauderdale. Known for his cuteness and crossover appeal -- he has acted in The Longest Yard and done a duet with country star Tim McGraw -- the rapper has had a long string of hits, including Country Grammar, Hot in Herre, Over and Over, and Grillz. See him perform them for $45 in advance and $48 day of show. Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. For more information, go to www.jointherevolution.net.

Also coming to Revolution Live: Five Finger Death Punch, who will sonically pummel you with other bleakly named bands In This Moment, Bury Your Dead and Another Black Day. Outburn Magazine calls Five Fingers ''cowboys from hell for this millennium.'' Metal Edge says they sound like ''violent exhilaration, giving contemporary metal a belligerent shove in an exciting direction.'' We'll take their word for it. Tickets for the Nov. 8 all-ages show go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. They're $18 in advance and $20 at the door on the day of the show.
