At the 51st annual awards show, the look was as important as the music.
For a place that once pulsed with music, Overtown is eerily quiet. There are more vacant lots than buildings on the stretch of Northwest Second Avenue that gleamed with lights and life when it was Miami's Little Broadway 50 years ago.
They top the charts in Finland, Switzerland, Germany and rank high in at least eight other European countries. On their last tour, they played 130 gigs across the world, in places including Czech Republic, Japan, Australia and Ecuador. They recorded their most recent live DVD before 11,500 fans.
Cuban-American singer Peter Fernandez, who has headlined shows from Las Vegas to Atlantic City, will be performing live at the Magnum Restaurant & Lounge in Miami today.
Mexican singer Mariano Barba was the surprise top winner as Billboard honored the most popular artists in Latin music.
