A jury in Miami socked Tiger Woods’ company with a whopper of a judgment in March — and Woods’ lawyers just filed notice they will appeal the decision of the all-female panel.
Woods’ ETW Corp. has been ordered to pay $1.22 million to the Miami-based memorabilia company Gotta Have It Golf, according to court documents.
That’s almost double the judgment that was announced in March.
That’s because $552,597 in interest was tacked onto the original judgment of $668,340, according to court papers.
And the interest will continue increasing since Woods, who has made only $86,919 on the PGA Tour so far this year, is appealing the judgment.
“I can’t understand why they possibly would want to appeal this, but we’re ready,” said Eric Isicoff, Gotta Have It’s attorney.
What was the lawsuit about?
Gotta Have It claimed Woods and co-defendant and golf great Arnold Palmer broke a licensing agreement signed in 2001 when they failed to provide 1,300 autographs each.
Woods was about 700 autographs short of what he had been paid for, according to the lawsuit.
Palmer quickly signed a secret settlement. But Woods continued on and even testified at the trial, just days after he was injured at the Cadillac Championship at Doral.
Apparently, the jury didn’t buy his spiel.
Said Isicoff: “Tiger had plenty of opportunities to settle. There’s no reason this case continued this long.”

Cantor, who’s making his famous call in a VW commercial on ESPN broadcasts of the Cup these days, just paid $2.3 million cash for a 15th-floor condo in a Zen building on Collins Avenue in Miami Beach.
That’s in addition to his Miami homestead valued on real estate websites at about $2 million.
According to Miami-Dade property records, Cantor, 51, bought his first million-dollar crib in 1997 on Stewart Avenue, just north of Coconut Grove.
The five-bedroomer set him back $1.08 million at the time.
But then Cantor upgraded late last year with a condo at the Mei building, four floors up from the apartment that disgraced baseball slugger Alex Rodriguez sold last month.
“It’s just a weekend getaway,” said Julian Johnston, the listing agent of Cantor’s place. “It’s a beautiful apartment, with direct ocean view.”
The best: Everything in the condo is operated electronically from a remote control, including the blinds, lighting and, yes, the sound system.
It has become one of the area’s favorite by-invitation-only music festivals: the iHeart Radio ultimate pool party at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach.
It’s the third time for the shindig, and the lineup for the weekend of June 28 was so extensive that it was spread out over Friday and Saturday.
