BIG SCREEN
10,000 BC (PG-13) -- Disaster master Roland Emmerich (The Day After Tomorrow, Godzilla, Independence Day) travels back in time to wreak his havoc on prehistoric man in this special effects-intensive adventure epic about a group of hunters who must fend off attacks from rival tribes and hungry wild beasts.
Miss Pettigrew Lives For a Day (PG-13) -- In 1939 London, two women (Frances McDormand and Amy Adams) defy societal rule and let it all hang out for a day. Because this is a chick flick -- and a period piece at that -- it probably results in at least one of them finding true love.
College Road Trip (G) -- A high schooler (Raven-Symone) bound for college is aghast when her overprotective father (Martin Lawrence) insists on accompanying her to visit the campuses of potential universities.

SMALL SCREENNew Amsterdam (9 p.m. Tuesday, Fox) -- Nikolaj Coster-Waldau of Black Hawk Down stars as John Amsterdam, a New York homicide detective blessed -- or is it cursed? -- with immortality; an ancient Indian spell will keep his biological clock from ticking until he encounters his true love. Sounds a lot dumber than it is -- Coster-Waldau and costars Zuleikha Robinson and Alexie Gilmore strike some sparks.
Oprah's Big Give (8 p.m. Sunday, ABC) -- Oprah among the little people. Sounds not nearly as dumb as it is -- see full review on this page.
Unhitched (9:30 p.m. Sunday, Fox) -- Four newly single pals encounter romantic misfortune. Sounds a lot cleaner than it is -- see full review on this page.
