New York's Psycho Clan, a company that produces everything from theater to site-specific entertainment, thinks horror movies are for wimps. At least that's what you might conclude if you check out Nightmare: Ghost Stories, New York's Most Horrifying Haunted House, a blood-curdling interactive experience that will take up residence in Miami's Wynwood neighborhood Sept. 25-Nov. 2.

A cast of 20 will act out the creepy, nightmarish, paranormal experiences shared by New Yorkers in an online poll. Those wishing to be frightened will stroll through 17 rooms at Soho Studios, 2136 NW First Ave., as well as two other attractions -- Nightmare: Old School (a haunted house with zombies, vampires and the like) and Mortuary (a funeral parlor where the dead rule).

Tickets ($25 in advance, $30 at the door, $45 for VIP express entry), go on sale Wednesday. Visit www.nightmaremiami.com or call 888-695-0888 for details.

READ THE LINES

The Oakland Park-based Rising Action Theatre is launching a readers' theater community outreach program this fall, giving gay and lesbian seniors the chance to do readings of plays at the theater, adult living facilities and gay community centers. Funded in part by a matching grant from the John C. Graves Charitable Fund of the Community Foundation of Broward, the program is aimed at polishing the actors' performing skills and allowing Rising Action to present works to both straight and gay senior communities.

A fundraiser set for Sunday at the theater, 840 E. Oakland Park Blvd., features a 7 p.m. performance of the theater's new show Bathhouse, the Musical, a meet-the-cast reception, wine tasting and desserts. Tickets are $50; call 800-595-4849 or visit www.risingactiontheatre.com. Seniors interested in participating in the readers' program should call director Jerry Jensen at 248-977-7500.
