Did you catch Katie Lee last week on Beach Bites? The TV personality visited South Florida on the Thursday night premiere of the Cooking Channel show, in which she visits the best seaside places, often with amazing views to match.
In Coral Gables, Lee told us she really enjoyed the Cuban sandwich at Tinta y Cafe in Coral Gables.
“Bobby Flay took me there, and it was awesome. They are putting their own updated spin on a classic,” says the cookbook author, adding that she also enjoyed grabbing frozen artisanal treats at Azucar on Calle Ocho: “I’m still dreaming about their signature Abuela Maria ice cream [vanilla with guava and cream cheese]. It’s a good thing I don’t live nearby because I would be addicted!”
Down in Key West, Lee savored the conch fritters at the Half Shell Raw Bar.
Never miss a local story.
“They were fantastic, and watching the sunset while eating them was pretty spectacular.”
The “Doing the Island Hop” episode reairs at 10:30 p.m. Thursday. Watch the episode online: www.cookingchanneltv.com/shows/beach-bites-with-katie-lee.html
