Jason Derulo was a busy man Sunday night, both hosting and performing at the iHeartRadio Music Awards at The Forum in Inglewood, California.
But the Want to Want Me crooner managed to joke around about the pressure-filled gig and why he got it. “The budgets were cut,” he told E! on the red carpet. Then pretending to speak on the phone with the show’s producers, Derulo said: “’We’re running out of money, J. Can you help us in a bind?’”
Though up for the Triple Threat award, Derulo lost too singer/actress/dancer Selena Gomez.
Still moving: Later this week — 10 p.m. Thursday night — the Miramar, Florida, native will channel disco legend Rick James on Spike TV’s Lip Sync Battle.
Never miss a local story.
The Talk Dirty singer, 26, will go up against singer/actress Katharine McPhee. Derulo’s rendition of Super Freak is one for the ages.
Yep, by the sounds and look of sneak peek (gotta love the ‘80s style wig), it could be epic.
You can catch the local in concert in downtown West Palm Beach on Clematis Street at 7 p.m. on April 28, when he’ll be throwing down new stuff such as his latest single If It Ain’t Love, out on iTunes, he tweeted. Tickets/info here.
Though Derulo was clothed during the awards ceremony, we couldn’t help but notice he’s rocking an amazingly chiseled body underneath. E! News tracked the performer’s diet and workouts in a recent article. And let’s just say the expression “six pack abs” does not do him justice. We’d say more like an eight pack.
“It’s really just being strict within reason,” Derulo said of what he consumes. “If you create yourself a reasonable diet...if you want something, you can have it, but within reason, do like an 80/20, 80-percent healthy and 20-percent...don't go too crazy!”
As for his workouts, there’s some boxing action going on. #Restdays he posted on Instagram when really going at it, Rocky style. Wowza.
But, no, our (part time) resident hunk is not available. Sorry. JD recently posted that he was on vacation with his girlfriend, model Daphne Joy, in Punta Mita, Mexico with the caption reading: “Great decisions.” Awwww.
Yep, the good life. Busy, but good.
