The Thompson Miami Beach is turning 1. To celebrate, the haute hotel is bringing locals a free (!) concert from George Lewis Jr., better known in electropop circles as Twin Shadow.
On Thursday night, Lewis will take the stage with an able assist from DJ Will Buck, in support of his recent album, Eclipse.
Revelers will get to experience Twin Shadow in the intimacy of Thompson’s backyard venue, 1930s House, a freestanding cocktail den, offering hand-crafted cocktails and global tapas by culinary partner Chef Michelle Bernstein.
Fun fact: The Los Angeles-based entertainer is a semi local. Born in the Dominican Republic, Lewis moved to Venice in Sarasota County, as a child. So he has a soft spot for the area.
Never miss a local story.
“I very much love Miami; Florida is my home state,” said the To The Top rocker and fashion designer, who also collaborates with men’s clothing line Public School. “I mostly go to the beach and visit with friends when I’m there.”
Expect a “loud and dramatic” concert from the man who finds inspiration from David Bowie, Roxy Music, Thin Lizzy and The Notorious B.I.G. and listens to everyone from Adele and Bryan Ferry to Led Zeppelin.
A thorough professional, Lewis will put in prep work beforehand.
“I watch videos of performances from earlier in the year usually, kind of like football training,” said the musician, who is dating Zoe Kravitz. “I’m coming for you. Get ready to party.”
As for his stage name, there’s a good reason for it.
“I’m a twin. Oftentimes when I was younger I felt like her shadow,” he explained. “I love her so much and used to follow her around.”
The Twin Shadow concert is free of charge and open to locals 21 and older; space is “extremely” limited and RSVP is required for all attendees via email@example.com. Doors will open at 9 p.m.
