Robert Downey Jr. made a surprise appearance at an Ohio Air Force base for a screening of his new movie.
Approximately 900 military personnel and friends cheered when Downey walked into the packed theater Sunday at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton. He was there to screen his new movie, The Judge, which opens Friday. Downey portrays a Chicago lawyer who confronts his past in his rural Indiana hometown.
The Dayton Daily News reports that Downey said he wanted to stop at the base because he’s always been drawn to all things military.
He said “it’s just a way of reminding myself that there are people out there who put their lives on the line so I can go out and make movies.”

John Galliano will be designing fashion again, joining Paris house Martin Margiela, three years after leaving the business in disgrace.
Galliano, after a long career at Christian Dior, left fashion in 2011 after he was caught on video slurring “I love Hitler.” He was dismissed from Dior, left his namesake label and was convicted by a French court on complaints of anti-Semitic behavior. He said he was under stress and admitted to being an alcoholic, and later apologized.
Maison Martin Margiela’s parent company OTB announced in a statement that they’re bringing Galliano on board as creative director, praising his “non-conformist creative talent.”
Where will Amanda Bynes be making her next trip? To the chapel, she tells In Touch Weekly.
The troubled actress’ latest story is that she has a 19-year-old fiance named Caleb, who works in a bait shop.
“I am very needy for friendship and I hate men... but I can now say I’m engaged — get away from me,” she told an In Touch reporter who was tailing her. “I want to be married and I want to be away from people.”
They plan to live in NYC because she would prefer to ride her bike.
“I really do not enjoy driving,” said Bynes, who was recently arrested on DUI charges yet again. “I don’t like the way I look in a car. The lighting is very bad.”
Who knows what’s happening? Days after the former child star’s arrest, the actress (with a bandage on her face) was seen talking to herself at LAX.
Here’s to unusual birth announcements: Blake Lively took to her website Preserve to post a picture of her burgeoning belly. The 27-year-old wife of Ryan Reynolds didn’t quite come and say there was a fetus growing inside of her, but the text partially reads: “Family is the single word our founder, Blake, built this home on.”
