Georgia May Jagger learned a few tricks from her mom, famed model Jerry Hall. But the 23-year-old beauty also inherited a bit of edge, thanks to dear old dad — Rolling Stones legend Mick Jagger.
Jagger is a brand ambassador for local retailer Sunglass Hut, and we spoke to her before the 44-year-old company’s Electrify Your Summer party, which will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at Nikki Beach. Attendees will be able to preview the latest eyewear styles, watch a volleyball game and jam to DJs like Alex Seda, Felipe Kaval and Stephan M.
What are the hot sunglasses to own right now?
My favorites would be Ray-Ban Rounds. They can be casual when paired with jean shorts and a T-shirt or glam with a cocktail dress. I’m really into the mirrored lenses that are more rock ’n’ roll. Plus their foldable options, which are great to travel with.
What are your plans this summer?
My perfect summer day consists of sleeping in, having a leisurely morning and then meeting up with friends and family at the beach. It’s always about who I’m with rather than what I’m doing. I also like to play with my dog Daisy. The Glastonbury music festival in England is always a big highlight too.
What do you think of Miami fashion?
I love that everyone there is so cool and casual. No one thinks too hard about fashion. They just have fun with their style in a comfortable way. That’s exactly how I am most of the time. My summer look is pretty basic — like cut-off shorts and a tank top, and then add a pair of colorful sunglasses to make the outfit pop.
Where do you go when you are here?
I love visiting Wynwood to check out new art, eating at Casa Tua and vintage shopping.
What advice can you give to aspiring models?
Act natural. If the pose feels uncomfortable, most likely it will look strange. And always be on time.
What is something you don’t leave home without?
Red lipstick, my iPhone and camera.
How many tips did your mother give you before you followed in her footsteps?
She has always given me a ton of advice and continues to today. My favorite ones are simple, “Always be yourself and don’t change for anyone.” And “Kindness is the best gift and asset.”
What was your most fun shoot thus far?
One of my favorites took place in the Bahamas for Sunglass Hut with supermodel Chanel Iman and [Venice, California, hat maker] Nick Fouquet, aka The Mad Hatter. We had a great time exploring Harbour Island driving golf carts, swimming in the ocean, relaxing on the beach, listening to music and hanging out. The whole campaign captures the true essence of summer fun and style.
What kind of music are you listening to?
I listen to a lot of old music such as Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley, Prince and James Brown. I’m also a really big Beyoncé fan.
Any diet/workout secrets?
I eat a lot of fruit and vegetables, and I’m a big fan of fresh juices. Since I’m always on the road, water and sleep are must haves.
What’s something readers may not know about you?
If I weren’t a model, I would be a photographer. If I weren’t a photographer, I wanted to be a veterinarian.
