IN THE PINK
Perez Hilton spent Mother’s Day as a new dad: The Miami native, born Mario Armando Lavandeira, Jr., spent it with his spanking new baby girl, Mia Alma (translated as “My Soul”). The infant was born Saturday via surrogate somewhere in the Midwest, the celebrity blogger told the Associated Press by phone Monday. The 37-year-old gossip blogger’s son, Mario Armando Lavandeira III, was born in February 2013.
Carrey Smith was minding her own business while walking by The Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay Hotel and Marina Saturday when a huge yacht caught her eye. The Fort Myers resident, in town for her niece’s first communion, then spotted a camera crew.
“I knew it had to be someone famous,” said Smith. Yep, she was right. “Nick Cannon was walking down the dock with models and champagne and what appeared to be a TV crew,” reports Smith, who asked the America’s Got Talent host for a digital souvenir. “He seemed a little sweaty, wearing a pink suit, and not really into taking the picture, but he did and was nice.”
It is unclear what Cannon was shooting, but he posted an Instagram pic of him with Kevin Hart in front of the comedian’s private jet that same day — in the same pastel pink suit. Mariah Carey’s ex reported that he later attended the funnyman’s show at AAA.
SLICE OF HAWAII
Speaking of models, there will be quite a few of them out in Miami Beach this week. They’ll be representing Hawaiian Tropic at a so-called Escape event at the Loews Miami Beach from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. Come on out to the cabana area for refreshments, fitness classes and pampering services courtesy of the hotel’s Exhale spa. Local fashion blogger Daniela Ramirez from Nany’s Klozet will be on hand 11:30 a.m. -1:30 p.m. Wednesday for style tips. No RSVP necessary.
Chuck Todd is up on his current events. Hear what the new Meet the Press host has to say at a breakfast discussion 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Jungle Island. Todd, who graduated from Miami Killian Senior High School, will receive the Headliner Award from MCCJ, a nonprofit dedicated to eliminating intolerance. The cost, $35, includes parking. NBC6 anchor Jackie Nespral emcees. RSVP/tickets: http://miamiccj.org, 305-755-6096. Space is limited.
