Kristin Cavallari is going all Miami on us!
Her football playing husband, Jay Cutler, just got hired in a sweet one-year deal ($10 million plus incentives) as the quarterback for the Miami Dolphins, to replace the team’s QB Ryan Tannehill, who is sidelined with a knee injury.
Cutler came out of retirement to help out the Dolphins; word is Cavallari helped him make the decision to say yes.
Never miss a local story.
We mean, c’mon: Who wouldn’t want to hang out in the Magic City for a year? She congratulated her hubby in an Instagram post with a pic of the two embracing.
“And he’s off…but this time as a dolphin. #MiamiDolphins.”
We think Cavallari, who now designs shoes plus a line of jewelry called Uncommon James, will fit in Miami just fine. Maybe she’ll pick up a little Spanish while she’s attending games. She told the Miami Herald in March 2009 while attending the Cosmo Bikini Bash, “Any excuse to go to Miami, I take it. It has such a fun vibe.”
So what of Mrs. Tannehill? While her husband tries to get his health in order, she must wait on the sidelines as well.
Will Kristin and Lauren become friends or do we foresee some rivalry? More on that later…
Judging by their social media following, there is no contest. Lauren, a model, has 43K followers on Instagram; 29.7K on Twitter. Cavallari is well known for being a cast member in both “Laguna Beach,” and its spinoff “The Hills.”
Now a shoe designer and cookbook author, she has 1.24 MILLION on Twitter and 2.7 million on Instagram.
The reality star has also done some work on the big screen, appearing in the 2008 comedy “Spring Breakdown” with Amy Poehler, as well as 2009’s straight-to-DVD National Lampoon’s Van Wilder sequel, “Freshman Year.” The following year, Cavallari started dating Cutler, who apparently had a crush on her from afar. In a 2013 interview with celebrity website “A Drink With,” she dished that the former Chicago Bears quarterback tracked her down.
“I got a call from my publicist that Jay wanted to fly me out to Chicago and take me out,” she said. “I didn’t know who he was! I had to google him. I was in the middle of filming ‘The Hills’ so I was like, I don’t want a boyfriend in Chicago, and passed on it.”
A year later Cavallari was visiting her mother in Chicago and saw a preseason game he was playing in. Apparently, the buff NFL player looked pretty good in person.
C&C eventually met via E! personality Giuliana Rancic, UsWeekly reports, and Cavallari was smitten with the athlete’s personality, too. They were married in June 2013 in Nashville, where Cutler played at Vanderbilt University. This is where they were raising their three kids until the call from the Dolphins came.
