Jennifer Lopez knows how to make an entrance.
She also knows her way around some sticky tape.
The singer-actress was one of the last to walk the red carpet at Thursday night's Latin Music Billboard awards at the Watsco Center in Coral Gables. Hair sleeked back into a long ponytail, JLo rocked an edgy black lacy cutout, with skin showing in just the right places — just about everywhere.
Those workouts with A-Rod are definitely paying off (though the former baseball player was nowhere in sight; she arrived solita).
Billboard.com reports the symmetrical gown was by Julien McDonald. Her stylists Rob and Mariel explained to the site that “the sexy cut, plunging neckline and open back is something that’s become a signature for Jennifer; sexy, feminine, fearless." They added the dress had also a gothic feel.
There was another costume change for the “Shades of Blue” star when she was on stage to accept her big prize — the Telemundo Star Award, honoring achievements that go beyond music. Her silver breast baring contraption was also by Julien McDonald and the 47-year-old entertainer and her gorgeously bronzed skin and toned body did it justice.
“You’re funny,” she told presenter Carlos Ponce, after he encouraged her to kiss her ex Marc Anthony, who was looking on offstage. The salsa singer and his Magnus Media produced her upcoming album in Spanish; she gave a sneak peek of what is to come by performing the ballad “Mirate” (Look at You).
In accepting the award, Lopez got duly emotional, while speaking in mostly Spanish.
“I love you guys,” she said into the mike. “I am full of emotion to share this special night with not only my family in life but my family in music. And also to return to the music of my roots has a meaning beyond words. Moments like this are proof of a lot of work, and I am lucky that life gives me so many blessings.”
There were a ton of other celebs at the ceremony: A big highlight was Vin Diesel, who came up to jam with his “Return of Xander Cage” costar Nicky Jam, who took home six awards. Also in attendance: actress Eva Longoria, pop star Becky G, Luis Fonsi and “Orange is the New Black’s” Jackie Cruz.
Among the other big winners of the night was Enrique Iglesias, who was given four awards, including Latin pop songs artist of the year, solo.
