BLESSING IN DISGUISE
Nathalie Rodriguez had some early morning news to share with her listeners on Wednesday morning, except the radio personality wasn’t on the air. She was checking in for a medical procedure.
The WIOD anchor posted a picture of herself on Instagram in front of Memorial Hospital Miramar with the caption: “Not your usual selfie, but one I share with a heart full of gratitude. Thank you for all your prayers and well-wishes. I will see you later, but until then, make your doctor’s appointment and get your exams on!”
On Tuesday, Rodriguez posted that she had been diagnosed with cervical cancer — “adenocarcinoma, to be exact” — and now wants to raise awareness about the importance of annual PAP smears. Her type is cancer of the glandular cells in the cervix, the opening to the uterus, according to medicate website OncoLink.org.
“Life happens,” the New York City native wrote, adding that the illness has been a “gift” and “I am learning to taste sweetness like never before. I’m blessed.”
She received an outpouring of support.
