“I’ve had a long-standing interest in art history, and my first published book was actually a nonfiction essay and catalogue on the American watercolorist John Stuart Ingle. For the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working through Our America — The Latino Presence in American Art, which has a number of fascinating essays on a long-running thread of serious art that only now is coming to much-deserved prominence in the American art world. There are terrific, well chosen illustrations, too. Published by the Smithsonian American Art Museum.”
John Sandford, author of Field of Prey, out Tuesday.
