Coral Gables' First Friday Gallery Night has been around for more than 20 years -- the region's original art walk. Here are some highlights from Friday's openings:

• Fans and Shadows, a show of found-object works and abstract paintings by Mary Stuart, an American living and working in Mexico, debuts at Tresart Gallery, 550 Biltmore Way, Suite 111; 305-648-3007; www.tresart.us.

• Cernuda Arte pays tribute to Pinar del Río, the western province of Cuba damaged by hurricanes Gustav and Ike, with a group show by pinareño artists Giosvany Echevarría, Irina Elén González, Juan Miguel Suárez and Ramón Vázquez; 3155 Ponce de Leon Blvd.; 305 461-1050; www.cernudaarte.com.

• ArtSpace/Virginia Miller Galleries presents Contemporary Fables, new work by Cuban exiled painter Humberto Castro, whose oil on canvas The Journey is pictured above; 169 Madeira Ave., 305-444-4493; www.virginiamiller.com.
