ART PICK
Lincoln Road & Miami Beach Gallery Walk Saturday
Add another ``art walk'' to South Florida's calendar of cultural events: The Lincoln Road & Miami Beach Gallery Walk. The first stroll takes place from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, and returns on first Saturdays thereafter. Some 40 local artists, museums and galleries in South Beach will open their doors to showcase a variety of photography, painting, installation, mixed-media and video work.
South Beach's core galleries and studios are housed at three ArtCenter/South Florida buildings -- 924, 810, and 800 -- on Lincoln Road. Showing is The Walden Project, works created with images by famed Miami photographer Carl Walden by artists-in-residence Natasha Duwin, Jules Lusson, Venessa Monokian and Hugo Moro. (See www.artcentersf.org.)
And here's a twist: Every month an ArtCenter resident-artist creates an artwork for the walk invitation. This month's is the mixed-media drawing WOW by Matu Croney, above. Bring the invitation printed (or in your cellphone) and enjoy hors d'oeuvres and wine inside the artist studios. For those without invite, cash bar is available. Musicians, dancers and writers also will participate. Violinist Linda Shapanka performs Saturday. For information or an invitation, contact jarnette@artcentersf.org or alfonso@kitemm.com.
