Bravo! | Seraphic Fire, Eugenia Zukerman and the Miami Guitar Festival
Seraphic Fire will present a special summer encore run of its popular Amazing Grace program, performed last November and now available on the choir's self-produced CD. The program traces the celebrated hymn through a variety of American music from rural Appalachia and country to the folk, bluegrass and gospel traditions.
Performances are 8 p.m. Wednesday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 3220 NW Seventh Ave., in Allapattah; 7:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Martha's Catholic Church, 9221 Biscayne Blvd., Miami Shores; 7:30 p.m. June 20 at First United Methodist Church, 536 Coral Way, Coral Gables; 8 p.m. June 21 at Miami Beach Community Church, 1620 Drexel Ave., Miami Beach; and 4 p.m. June 22 at All Saints Episcopal Church, 333 Tarpon Dr., Fort Lauderdale. Eugenia Zukerman returns for a recital Thursday night at Coral Gables Congregational Church as part of its Community Arts Program. The American flutist will offer a wide-ranging program including Poulenc's Suite, a transcription of Mozart's Violin Sonata in F major, K. 376, C.P.E. Bach's solo Sonata in E minor, and the Flute Sonata of Otar Taktakishvili. Concert time is 8 p.m. Thursday at Coral Gables Congregational Church, 3010 De Soto Blvd. Tickets are $25 and $35 in advance, $30 and $40 at the door. The annual Miami Guitar Festival opens Wednesday for four nights at the University of Miami, offering evening performances, lectures, workshops and master classes through June 21. Artists include Rene Gonzales, Roberto Limon, Rafael Padrone, Javier Olondo and Isaac Bustos. Performances take place at 8 p.m. at Clarke Recital Hall, 5501 San Amaro Dr., Coral Gables.
