Big screen

Opening Friday

Draft Day (PG-13): Kevin Costner returns to the sports drama arena as the general manager of a losing professional football squad who trades his No. 1 pick in hopes of getting the team back on track.

The Raid 2 (R): Writer-director Gareth Evans’ follow-up to his 2011 action hit contains some of the wildest, most exhilarating fight sequences captured on film. And no CGI, either.

Joe (R): A subdued Nicolas Cage stars as an ex-con who befriends a 15-year-old runaway (Tye Sheridan) in this adaptation of Larry Brown’s novel.

Rio 2 (G): Jesse Eisenberg, Anne Hathaway and Jemaine Clement provide the voices in this animated sequel to the 2011 hit, playing macaws trying to survive the dangerous jungles of the Amazon.

Rene Rodriguez

Small screen

Game of Thrones (9 p.m. HBO Sunday): The fourth season of the smash fantasy series returns. Judging by this season’s slogan (“All men must die”), things are going to get a lot worse before they get better.

Turn (9 p.m. AMC, Sunday): The network of Mad Men, Walking Dead and Breaking Bad pins its latest prestige-series hopes on a show that’s like the Revolutionary War-era scenes from Sleepy Hollow but without the fun, supernatural stuff.

In Performance at the White House (9 p.m. PBS Monday): Aretha Franklin, Patti LaBelle and Melissa Etheridge perform in “Women of Soul.”

Bermuda Tentacles (9 p.m. SyFy Saturday): The latest from the network that brought you Sharknado is this thriller about killer calamari that nab the president’s plane. No, seriously.
