People's choice: CD Invites created winning video

jwyss@MiamiHerald.com

For the first time last year, we asked our finalists to produce short video pitches for their ideas and asked our readers to vote on them. The clear victor in that cyber-popularity contest was CD Invites of Miami Beach.

The home-based business received almost half of the 5,000 votes cast in the ''People's Pick'' contest.

Created by graphic artist Leah Teitelbaum, CD Invites gives customers the opportunity to send in pictures, images and music, which it weaves together into a multimedia invitation. For anywhere from $5.50 to $10.25 per CD, the company burns and ships them to your guests along with print invitations.

Since the competition, business has boomed and CD Invites has gone from being a sideline activity to a full-time job, said Teitelbaum. The next step? Work out a commission structure so the company can partner with wedding planners and bridal sites.
