Hi Yolanda... Thanks for your recent message... I was getting worried thinking you had forgotten about me... Remember that we Pedro Pans have to stick together because "De los buenos quedamos pocos" Don't worry, I will definitely stop by next time I drive down to Miami to collect "mi cafecito". I would like to introduce you to Vivian A Macombie y Salort. She is also a Pedro Pan and a very good friend whom I met through this network and currently lives in Miami. She also promissed me "un cafecito" so thanks to the two of you, I will probably become a cafeine addict. Vivian and her brother Rafael arrived on Aug 12, 1962 and were sent to CWB Florida City. They were later sent to St. Joseph's Orphanage in Helena, MT and then to Whitefish, Mt which is where I also lived in a foster home with Oscar Torres whom you already know. My wife shared some good news with me today. (no, she is not pregnant). The good news is that a new Latin Restaurant named "La Rana Loca" just opened in Winston-Salem. The owners are an Irish guy and a chef from Miami. (bet you he is Cuban) - The menu I saw on the paper looks great and includes" Camarones en cebiche. Pernil de puerco asado. Mahi empanizado con plantains. Arroz blanco y frijoles negros. I am sure that any Miami Pedro Pan who is reading this might not be too impressed, but I am the only Pedro Pan in NC living among the rednecks, so for me this will be a gastronomic delight. I will sign off for now and remember, either Pilón or Bustelo is Ok with me. Take care

Yolanda, que alegría que te gustaría donar fotos para los archivos de Pedro Pan. Mi opinión es que fotos de los campamentos sería mejor donarlos a los archivos de Pedro Pan del Cuban Heritage Collection de la Universidad de Miami. Ya ellos tienen otras series de fotos de los campamentos, organizadas y catalogadas, incluyendo la colección donada por Alberto Cuartas, quien fue un houseparent en varios campamentos por alrededor de 17 años. Si puedes identificar las personas en las fotos, y las fechas, eso hace las fotos mas valiosas. La persona encargada es Esperanza de Varona, Chair of the Cuban Heritage Collection. Yo las vi a todas con "ROLOS". me acuerdo que las mas "ricas" eran las que tenian "rolos calientes" y se los prestaban a las que no tenian.Con "rolos" o sin "rolos" todas mis hermanitas eran bonitas. Yolanda por favor enviame tu telefono en un e-mail ( lo perdi ) Conozco a varias en las fotos y pudieramos revisarlas por telefono. Tu amigo que nunca uso "rolos" MELVIN
