Armando: Do you by any chance remember Duluth's Jeanne Barbara Miklas Remick? Apparently, she was foster mother to several Pedro Pan children about the time you were sent to Duluth. I'm attaching a link to her obituary for you to copy and paste on your browser. Incidentally, do you remember Pedro Pan Jose Barreiro from St. James in Duluth? Please, let me know. Thank you, Jose Antonio. Link:http://www.duluthnewstribune.com/event/obituary/id/108263/

Armando, there were 8 and not 6 of you when you arrived in Duluth, MN, on June 9, 1962,. I just posted the newspaper photograph featured in an article written about you and the other kids in the Duluth News-Tribune. Please go to: http://www.facebook.com/OPPGI to see it. Please, let me know, if you're able to identify any of the other Cuban children. The article was made available to us by the Diocese of Duluth. Apparently, they had saved it all these years. Enjoy!

Armando, Thank you for your message. I know very well how heavy a load our souls carry, although fully integrated to our American ways...the scars remain in place. Currently I am writting a book about my experiences both back home and here in the promised land. I have tried to reach some of the Pedro Pans to include a chapter describing their personal experiences and feelings, but no one has taken me up on the offer. Perhaps that will be another boook where we could leave a collective record of our experiences for posterity. Although few of us perished in this ordeal not to be compared with the Holocaust, we suffered just as much, our stories should be known to the world in hopes that NEVER AGAIN another such exodous will have to take place. I hope I could get you to recruit some of our brothers and sisters to permanently record our experiences. Once again, thank you for your shared thoughts and God bless you

Hi Armando, The moment I read the names of the last 5 that register & saw yours, I knew it was you. We were at Colegio Zayas and you and I were always in the front row. I'm so glad to know you're also a PP. I'll look for those pictures & put them here so you can see them. What a coincidence, you are living in California where I lived for 9 yrs. Well, I hope to hear from you soon, you may contact me directly to my email tgonz_af_prog@yahoo.com Un afectuoso saludo camagueyano de esta compañera de primaria.
