Luis R Gonzalez Rivero
Luis R's Story
Leaving Cuba and the flight over feels to me like a movie. However I do remember meeting George and asking him for Chiclets. He then took the morning flight group to a house in SW and after the afternoon flight arrived, picked us up and took us to Matecumbe and on to Florida City. My memories of that arrival night at Armando and Jose Luis cabin are very vivid and were very scary at the time. I am not going to write all my feelings here but suffice it to say that I made very good friends in the 1 1/2 years I was in Matecumbe. I remember fondly Arturo Sordo, Enrique Baloyra, Bob Brown, el abuelo Armenteros and many others that directly or indirectly shape my early years. I hung with a group of friends that I wish I could find, Hiram Perez Blanco, Diego Curbelo, el negro Katanga.
