Dear Mrs. Eloisa Echazabar: My name is Manuel E. Gutierrez Arnao and my date of arrival was August 3, 1962-47 years ago- and I was twelve. Last Sunday May 17th, 2009 I happened to catch a glimpse at a copy of 'The Herald' and decided to check out their prime story of the day having to do with ' The Pedro Pans.'-The rest is history.I have now registered to The Pedro Pan Network and although it's at times psychologically painful to actually delve into those memories in the end it helps to reminisce as to why we are now here.-Needless to say the culture shock was tremendous, adapting to an Anglo-Saxon society where the language, the laws, relationship-making was so different than the Cuban Culture experience, that at times I wondered about my sanity. It's true that I questioned my sanity and I believe so have other Pedro Pans. But like you ' I made it through'and adapted to this American Society not without a few bumps and bruises but nevertheless assimilated. Fighters must be able to assimilate hits as well as hit.-I feel no regrets now-have in the past-for coming here to The United States and believe I have grown up some though re-living the Campamentos experience have drawn a tear or two, and I never cry.I did all my crying in the Campamentos I told myself once and I have mostly kept my word on controlling my emotions ever since. Best regards to you and ' Kudos' to you for embarking in such a noble cause- The recording of The Pedro Pan Experience. Hi Eloisa, Thank you on behalf of all Pedro Panes. What a great job you've done! We do need to see each other again. It's been too many years since our lives crossed in the Buffalo orphanage. Felicidades! Carinos,
