Ima Pazos Bernal
Ima's Story
My parents Arsenio Pazos and Sarah Maida Pazos along with my uncles Juan Antonio Pazos and Virginia Pazos, sent my cousin Maria Elena Pazos on a KLM flight by ourselves. The KLM flight was a propeller engine from Havana to Miami.
I brought with me a Baby Jesus that my grandmother Josefa Pazos had given me with instructions of not letting it out of my hands and sight until I would hand it over to my aunt Fina in Miami. I remember that my cousin Maria Elena being older than I she was the assigned adult for both of us.
I remember wanting to go to the bathroom with the Baby Jesus in my arms, and opened the cabinet door where the pilots were flying the plane. The next thing i remember is landing in Miami international Airport, where we had to walk down. I thought I was coming over to spend a few months with my aunt and cousins and that I would return to Havana and be reunited with my parents and my little brother Arsenio "Archie" Pazos and my baby sister Maria del Carmen "Marimen" Pazos.

Ima, de que parte de Cuba eres? Yo soy de apellido Pazos tambien. Me crie en la Habana y Matanzas pero la familia es de Pinar del Rio. Tambien llegue en Abril del 62 y ahora vivo en la Florida, Lakeland. Llegamos aqui tres años despues de haber vivido en Missouri. Que interesante ya que nuestro apellido no es comun.

Hola mi prima, pues si que en vez de ir al bañ, nos fuimos a la cabina del piloto, casi fuimos las primeras terroristas de aviones, sin quererlo!!!! Menudo susto cuando vimos el cielo recuerdas????? Yo recuerdo también que se me tupieron los oidos y no oia nada de nada, pensaba que me había quedado sorda!!!!! Bueno debes contar algo de la espera hasta que pudiste reunir con tu familia!!!
