Querida Mery: Me ha dado alegría tu mensaje. Efectivamente, hemos entrado en un paseo por la Avenida de los Recuerdos y hemos comenzado un nuevo capítulo en nuestras vidas. Es muy emocionante volver a encontrarse despues de tantos años con personas que fueron importantes para nosotras durante aquellos entronques de nuestros destinos. Yo he tenido tantas emociones ya que he perdido la cuenta. ¡Y todavía me faltan varias personas por encontrar-ver-conocer! Se me ocurre que nuestra magia Pedro Panera en la vida real es mucho más extraordinaria que la del cuento con su polvo de hadas. Por éso me fascina seguir leyendo los relatos que van entrando en el website. Me maravilla y conmueve ver como les fue a aquellos niñitos que volaron llorando, asustados y llenos de preguntas sobre el Estrecho de La Florida casi cincuenta años atrás. Maria de los A(¿Angeles?: Welcome to this network and thank you for sharing your story. Yes, I can well relate to your feelings as the older sister comforting a little sister or brother for whom we felt so responsible in the absence of our parents. ¡But my little brother was one year older than you were when you were filling that role in the Camp! It always brings tears to my eyes to remember how older siblings, even as young as you, rose to the ocassion and grew up practically overnight to compensate for the parents who could not be there. I was one of the Florida City "viejitas" (como dice Otmara Capote) and I remember comforting many of the younger ones, all my hermanitos under those circumstances. I trust you will find the old friends and acquaintances that will fill back in some of those spaces left in your heart after that hasty and traumatic departure from Cuba.
