Hello Jose Antonio. What a small world!!! I am happy you found me through a message to another Pedro Pan. Yes, that is where the store was and that is the church I went to. Did you know my cousins, Betico, Yayo and Xiomara? Their home was across the street from the store. My maternal grandmother lived on Aricochea 12. I looked at the pictures you posted. I know that bench by the two story building in Fla. City. If I remember well, that is where the vending machine was. I visited the camp about 5-7 years ago, (cannot remember), and drove through the entire complex. Looks just like it did 47 years ago...Even the vending machine is there. Thanks for writing back to me. Niurka

Sorry, forgot to tell you to feel free to call me Yolie That's what my Cuban friends still call me.

My grandparents on my mother's side were from Holguin. Their names were Lalo Miranda and Maria Fox. They had eight children and I was one of their many grandchildren. Other grandchildren were Marly Rodriguez Miranda, Eddy Rodriguez Miranda, Eduardito and Ana Maria Miranda, Aldo and Luisin Miranda. Because I was born and raised in Havana I did not get to see them often. Perhaps only four or five times in my fourteen years in Cuba. My mother's name was Yolanda Miranda Fox. I think my grandfather had a store in town- maybe a fabric store? Not sure. So now you have two writers here! Surely that will help our story to be told. Yolanda is wonderful and obviously a very good writer. Thank you for bringing us togehter.

Jose Antonio, me alegro que disfruten de el 'bochinchito'...ya que la vida nos presenta suficientes dificultades y para sobre vivir, hay que hecharlas a un lado. Please don't ever get offended by anything I write...it's is never meant in that manner. And, should I step out of line, you have my e-mail, let me know and I'll retract! No te vuelvas a perder por mucho tiempo, ok?

Of course, you were missed...you always have something pleasant and intelligent to say and I am in awe. I was just telling Yoli the other day that I marvel at the Spanish writing skill you and she have. Except in Rodríguez and Garrandés and words ending in cíon, I have no idea where accents go. I've been down and out for a couple of days and I'm glad Marcos, Yoli and you got on now and I've had some fun joking back and forth. Saludos
