Products: HTC Touch Diamond and HTC Touch Pro, sold by Sprint
Prices: HTC Touch Diamond is $249.99 and Touch Pro is $299.99; both prices are after a $100 mail-in rebate and with a two-year contract.
Features: These touch-screen phones come with a stylus. They both have Windows Mobile 6.1, a full HTML browser with Opera, a 3.2-megapixel camera and the ability to tap into nearby Wi-Fi. These touch screen phones work best with a stylus. Both have custom-made applications for getting news updates and watching YouTube videos. The Pro has a full five-row QWERTY keyboard that slides out and a video out feature to show PowerPoint presentations on an external display.
Ups: I really like the sleek design of the menu. The keyboard on the Pro is easy to type on and I like how the number row is also home to the same special characters found on a typical computer keyboard.
Downs: The phone screen will rotate from horizontal to vertical when viewing multimedia, but it won't rotate to horizontal when using the screen's keyboard. And you pretty much need to use the stylus -- this doesn't work very well with fingers.
Bottom line: The Touch Diamond and Touch Pro are pretty much sister phones, which is why I'm reviewing them together. But if you're going to spend the money on either one of them, spend the extra $50 and get the Pro. Having a keyboard makes a big difference, since you have to use a stylus to type if you go with the Diamond. If you enjoy using a stylus, then you'll really like this phone.
