Pompano lawyer barred from debt settlement
A judgment in a lawsuit filed by the Florida attorney general against Pompano Beach lawyer Laura Hess bars her and affiliated companies from the debt settlement or debt management-related businesses.
The lawsuit accuses her law firm and other companies of defrauding thousands of credit card holders after promising to cancel debts for pennies on the dollar. Those companies are now in receivership in Broward County court and are being sold off to pay restitution to consumers.
