Merrill-Stevens to stop selling yachts
Merrill-Stevens is discontinuing its yacht sales and charter divisions to focus on its core yacht repair and refit business on the Miami River.
The yacht sales division, started three years ago in Fort Lauderdale, put Merrill-Stevens in potential competition with other brokers and management firms whom it relies on for repair referrals.
The move will ''assure referring yacht brokers and yacht management firms that we are serving their needs -- not competing with them,'' said Merrill-Stevens' CEO Fred Kirtland.
