WEB VOTE

Looks like John McCain has some work to do on one

local constituency: Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce members.

In a poll that included 250 of its members, McCain came in third in the two-man presidential race: 46 percent favored Barack Obama, 28 percent said they were undecided and 25 percent said they would vote for McCain.

''With such a large number of undecideds, it seems both candidates have a lot of work left to do to win the votes of South Florida business,'' Carlos Fernandez-Guzman, chairman of the Greater Miami Chamber, said in a statement, adding the group hopes to see both candidates here in the near future.

BIRKS & MAYORS ENTERS BOTSWANA DEAL

Jewelry retailer Birks & Mayors, which has co-headquarters in Montreal and Tamarac, has entered into a deal to be the exclusive distributor for Botswana Diamonds in North America.

Although Botswana diamonds may have been available before, they have never been marketed under this name prior to the company's partnership with Tache and Diamond Manufacturing Botswana.

The diamonds will be launched this fall at select Mayors stores in South Florida, including Dadeland Mall and Town Center at Boca Raton, as well as Birks flagship stores in Canada.

The product will be exclusively sourced through DTC Bostwana and manufactured at Diamond Manufacturing Bostwana's factory in order to ensure the highest ethical and sourcing standards.

Diamonds account for about 76 percent of Botswana's exports and approximately 33 percent of its Gross Domestic Product.

KENDALL CENTER RENAMED

To go with its new renovation, Kendall Town & Country Center is getting a new name.

In conjunction with last week's opening of Kohl's, the shopping center has been renamed ''The Palms at Town & Country'' to emphasize the center's new design, which features additional landscaping and a Mediterranean-themed open-air construction.

Kohl's is the first tenant to open in the project's Phase 2, which will ultimately include 397,834 square feet.
