Mexican president to receive award
Latin Trade, a leading business magazine focusing on Latin America and the Caribbean, has announced that Mexican President Felipe Calderón will be recognized as the Leader of the Year at its annual Bravo Business Awards.
The awards ceremony, likened to the Oscars of Latin American business, will be held Oct. 30 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Miami, in conjunction with the Latin Trade Symposium.
The symposium is being organized with the Inter-American Development Bank and the Americas Society/Council of the Americas. It will focus on the region's response to the global economic crisis.
Calderón, elected president in 2006, earned the Leader of the Year award for his stand against organized crime and violence, reforming the criminal justice system, as well as other economic achievements, according to Latin Trade.
