About the Americas Conference®
Inaugurated in 1997 by The Miami Herald, the Americas Conference® is the region's premier business and political forum on Latin America and the Caribbean. Last year, over 550 international executives and government leaders attended. The Miami Herald's credibility and extensive contacts have been critical factors in the conference's success.
The Americas Conference® welcomed Florida International University as a new partner in 2008. Leveraging the State of Florida’s initiative to host the first conference on Good Governance and Democracy for the Hemisphere, Florida International University’s Institute for Public Management and Community Service (IPMCS) and The Miami Herald combined their efforts to plan the 2008 Americas Conference® focusing on good governance, democracy and economic development.
In 2009, the conference will be hosted at the historic Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, Florida, on September 29th and 30th . The forum’s theme encompasses the challenges and opportunities in the region: “After the crisis: Emerging challenges and political stability.” From upcoming elections, political and fiscal stress, innovation and social prosperity, and ample discussions on how the region will face these issues? These topics and more will be examined throughout this critical two-day conference. Please mark your calendar and plan to attend! Register now.
