Credit card company not paying attention to details

Q. I sent Household Bank a $100 payment by money order, but it says it never got it. I have copies of the front and back that show that Household not only received it but cashed it! It asked me to fax the copies, which I did, but it hasn't helped to resolve the problem. Now, it has assessed me late fees and over-the-limit fees, too.

I need Action Line's help.

A. You got it. We forwarded copies of the cashed money order to the Chicago headquarters of HSBC-North America, which owns Household Bank.

The following day, you got a call from Household saying that it had found the money order. ''How about that?'' you said to us.

All the related fees have been removed, and Household has promised a $50 credit on your account as a goodwill gesture.

Moral of the story: Be persistent.
