MONTVALE, N.J. --
Capital markets are the lifeblood of the domestic and global
economy. At the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA(R)) 89th
Annual Conference and Exposition (June 14-18 in Tampa), David
Hirschmann, senior vice president from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce
will present "U.S. Competitiveness: A Global Perspective" to hundreds
of finance and accounting professionals.
U.S. capital markets have long provided tremendous advantages to
the economy, but their dominant position is now under strain from the
increasingly competitive international markets and the need to
modernize legal and regulatory frameworks. This important session will
teach attendees how the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is working with big
businesses, regulators, investors, elected officials, courts, key
associations, and the media to make U.S. capital markets the most
fair, transparent, yet profitable in the world.
"This is just one of many outstanding keynote sessions that
attendees will have access to at our Annual Conference," said Jeffrey
C. Thomson, IMA acting president and CEO. "Our speakers are some of
the world's most well-renowned thought leaders in accounting and
business performance. David's discussion will be a huge asset to
conference attendees."
Mr. Hirschmann is also executive vice president of the National
Chamber Foundation (NCF), an organization responsible for driving the
policy debate on key issues by formulating arguments, developing
options, and influencing thinking to move the American business agenda
forward. He oversees U.S. Chamber of Commerce initiatives ranging from
strengthening capital markets to fighting intellectual property theft.
IMA's 89th Annual Conference and Exposition will take place at the
Tampa Convention Center in Tampa, FL from June 14-18, 2008. The event
will offer opportunities for Conference attendees, industry experts,
and the media to network and learn best practices through nearly 50
educational sessions. Registration information is available online at
IMA's Conference website at www.imaconference.org.
