The Chicago Bears released veteran safety Adam Archuleta on Tuesday.
The eight-year pro out of Arizona State played in 15 games last season with 10 starts at strong safety in his only season with Chicago. He finished eighth on the team with 64 tackles while racking up two sacks, five special teams tackles, one interception and a fumble recovery.
The 30-year-old Archuleta is a former first round selection (20th overall) by the Rams in the 2001 NFL Draft. He spent five years in St. Louis before signing as an unrestricted free agent with Washington prior to the 2006 season. Chicago dealt a sixth-round draft pick to Washington in 2007 to acquire the rights to Archuleta.
