Dulko edges Medina Garrigues in Fes final

The Sports Network

Gisela Dulko edged top-seeded Anabel Medina Garrigues of Spain to win the $145,000 Moroccan Grand Prix tennis event on Sunday.

The second-seeded Argentine won in straight sets but needed the tiebreaker to win both frames, 7-6 (7-2), 7-6 (7-5), at this clay-court French Open tune- up.

Dulko earned her third career WTA final with the win and pocketed $22,900.

"Anabel is a great player, especially here on clay," Dulko said. "It was a really physical match. We had very long points and even though it was only two sets it was close to three hours. In both tie-breaks I took my opportunities and went for my shots - that probably made the difference today, even though I missed sometimes."

Medina Garrigues failed in an effort to capture her eighth crown and fell to 1-1 lifetime against Dulko.
