LaSalle baseball tops Aquinas

The LaSalle baseball team defeated Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas 8-7 in the Bishop Moore Catholic Challenge in Orlando on Wednesday afternoon.

The Royal Lions (13-3) were led by Jeremey Lichtman, who was 2 for 3, including a grand slam in the top of the fifth inning.

Michael Fajardo was 2 for 4, with a double and two RBI, and Anthony Tzamtzis (4-1) pitched a complete game, with seven strikeouts, for LaSalle.

LaSalle advances to the tournament's semifinals and will face Norte Dame High School from Chicago, Ill., at 4 p.m. Thursday.
