TEAM OF THE WEEK
Southridge boys' and girls' track: The Spartans had an impressive showing at the Lake Mary Track and Field Invitational, winning the boys' and girls' classifications. Brandon O'Connor won the 200 and 400, and Eric Adeyemi won the 110 and 300 hurdles to lead the boys. The girls were led by Ebony Eutsey who won the 200 and 400.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Cristina Brea, Lourdes girls' track: Brea won three events to lead the Bobcats to a team championship at the Falcon Track and Field Invitational. She won the 1,600 (5:22.71), the 3,200 (11:45.77) and the high jump (4-10) as Lourdes beat runner-up Ferguson by 12 points.
Carlos Reyna, Columbus boys' track: Reyna won the 100 (10.64) and the 200 (22.15) to lead the Explorers to a first-place finish at the Falcon Track and Field Invitational. Columbus won 10 of the 16 events in the landslide victory.
Rony Rodriguez, Sunset baseball: Rodriguez hit a two-run home run to tie the game against Coral Park at 4-4 in the bottom of the seventh inning. He hit a walk-off home run in the 11th to give the Knights the victory.
Joe Keebler, Palmetto baseball: Keebler was 3 for 4 with two doubles, a home run and three RBI and picked up the win as the Panthers defeated Varela 9-7. Keebler was also the winning pitcher in the 5-2 win against Coral Gables.
Natashalee Scott, Hialeah-Miami Lakes softball: Scott was 3 for 4 and scored the game-winning run in the eighth inning as the Trojans beat Miami Springs 7-6.
Erica Acevedo, Doral softball: Acevedo was 4 for 4 and struck out nine batters as she led the Firebirds to a 9-8 win against Pace.
Michael Vivanco, Varela boys' volleyball: Vivanco had 17 assists, five kills and 10 digs to lead the Vipers in a 25-12, 23-25, 25-13, 25-13 victory against Ferguson. He also had 30 digs and five kills in the three-game sweep against Westminster Christian.
Robert Chester, Palmer Trinity boys' tennis: Chester, playing in the No. 1 singles division, beat his Doral opponent 8-2 to give the Falcons the 4-3 win. He also beat his Westminster opponent 8-4 as they beat the Warriors 5-2.
Naseena Wright, Carol City girls' tennis: Wright won both of her matches as the Chiefs defeated Central and Hialeah-Miami Lakes. She outscored her opponents 24-2 as Carol City improved to 6-3.
Craig Merlin, Gulliver boys' water polo: Merlin's defense led the Raiders to an 11-9 victory against Belen. He held them scoreless for a 14-minute span. He also added nine blocks in the 18-7 victory against Palmetto.
Melissa Mansana, Miami Beach girls' water polo: Mansana scored 26 goals in four games as the Hi-Tides defeated Boca Raton, Suncoast, Northeast and Deerfield Beach in the Deerfield Beach tournament.
Gino Ageno and Jennifer Rodriguez, Braddock badminton: The mixed doubles team defeated the Ferguson opponents 15-13, 15-8 as the Bulldogs won 6-4.
