TEAM OF THE WEEK

• Gulliver softball: The Raiders defeated Fort Myers, Doral, Southwest and Wellington as they won the Slamfest this past weekend. Sara Buchholz was selected as the MVP, putting in a 24-strikeout weekend and going 6 for 12 with four RBI. Jamie Vega was 2 for 3, scoring three runs in the championship game.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

• Jillian Husted, Archbishop Curley softball: Tied at nine in the bottom of the seventh inning, Husted blasted a three-run walk-off home run for the Knights. She was 3 for 4 with four RBI.

• Eric Serra, Braddock baseball: Serra had the game-winning RBI in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead the Bulldogs to a 4-3 win against Sunset. He was 2 for 3.

• Greg Gomez, Gulliver baseball: Gomez had a game-winning RBI in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead the Raiders against Pace in a 3-2 victory at Mark Light Field. He was 2 for 3 with an RBI in the 10-9 victory against Dade Christian.

• Alex Lastra, Columbus boys' volleyball: Lastra led the Explorers to a first-place finish at the Southwest Invitational. The Explorers beat Spanish River, the defending state champions, in the final 25-18, 18-25, 25-13. Lastra had three kills in the final, five kills against Braddock and 15 assists against Southwest.

• LaSonya Rodgers, Coral Reef girls' track: Rodgers won three events as she led the Vipers to victory at the Vipers Track and Field Classic. She won the 100 (:12.91), the 200 (:26.85) and the triple jump (36-08).

• Danny Perez, LaSalle boys' track: Perez won the discus (118-07) and the shot put (45-02) to lead the Royal Lions to a 76-50 win against Gulliver.

• George Quintana, Killian boys' water polo: Quintana scored 10 of his team's 11 goals as the Cougars defeated Orlando Boone 11-10. He scored five goals in the 11-8 win against Oviedo.

• Sami Capparelli, Coral Reef girls' water polo: Capparelli had three goals in the 7-6 win against Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas. She also led her team with six goals in the 13-2 win against Carrollton.

• Brian Lee and Nick Suarez, Westminster boys' tennis: Tied at three, the match came down to the No. 2 boys' doubles match. Lee and Suarez edged out the Marathon opponents as they won the match 8-7 (7-5) to give the Warriors the victory.

• Ginabelle Louis, North Miami Beach girls' tennis: Louis won the No. 3 singles division to lead the Chargers to a 4-3 win against Coral Gables. Louis won her match 6-3, 6-1 as NMB improved to 6-1 on the season.

• Hugh Morrisson, Palmer Trinity lacrosse: Morrisson scored four goals and had two assists to lead the Falcons to a 13-9 victory against Miami Country Day.

• Sean Gam and Kritzia Lopez, Coral Gables badminton: Gam and Lopez won the No. 1 mixed doubles division 15-9, 15-11 in the 9-1 win against Coral Park. The Cavaliers are currently undefeated.
