The Florida High School Athletic Association announced that its inaugural state lacrosse finals will be held at West Orange High in Winter Garden, April 18-19. Four teams in the boys and girls classes will advance to the tournament.
The FHSAA has also centralized its state tennis finals, which had been spread out in three areas for the past six years. The Class 2A and 1A state tennis tournaments will move to Red Bug Lake and Sylvan Lake Parks in Seminole County this year. The Class 2A meet had been held in Tampa and the 1A meet in Tallahassee.
The Class 4A and 3A state tournaments will be held at parks in nearby Altamonte Springs. The Class 4A and 2A meets will be held April 21-23, with 3A and 1A to be held from April 23-25.
SOFTBALLUniversity defeated Florida Christian 2-1 due to a two run homer by Shelby Gilreath in the top of the seventh inning. Pitcher Evalena Behr had another great performance by throwing a complete game and striking out seven. She picked up her 10th win of the season.
