• Boyd Anderson 59, Pace 52: Martavious Irving got eight of his 14 points in the fourth quarter to help Boyd Anderson win at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Classic late Friday.

Irving followed a Bryan Bynes putback with a one-handed dunk after picking off a halfcourt pass. He hit a three-pointer with 5:11 left to spark a 9-0 run to start the fourth quarter.

''I was struggling the whole game,'' Irving said. ``I was just trying to play as hard as I could.''

Rakeem Buckles, who has signed with Louisville, had 18 points for Pace. Darren Stewart added 12 and Christian Martinez had nine. Bynes finished with 19 points for Boyd Anderson.

Irving's heroics allowed Boyd Anderson (10-4), which is ranked No. 1 in Class 4A, to hold off Pace (16-0), which is No. 1 in Class 6A. Irving made a layup and Cody Mann banked in a shot at the end of the third quarter to cut Boyd Anderson's deficit to 41-39.

''Pace is a very good team,'' Boyd Anderson coach Eugene Richardson said. ``They are two-time defending state champions and have been playing great basketball. I told the guys this is not going to be easy. It is going to be a possession basketball game. They are going to come right back at you.''
