Center of Life prevails at MLK event

Miami Herald Writer

Bryan Delancy scored eight of his 10 points in the fourth quarter, as Center of Life Academy held off Oldsmar Christian 59-57 at the MLK Classic on Friday night at Boyd Anderson.

With the game tied at 26 at halftime, the Hawks went on a 13-3 run to open the third quarter behind eight points by Tony Mitchell, who led them with 18 points, including four three-pointers.

Oldsmar was able to cut the lead down to 41-35 going into the fourth quarter, and outscored the Hawks 14-8 in the first four minutes of the fourth to tie the game at 49.

But Delancy and Ismaila Dauda scored the next 10 points to help the Hawks take a 59-54 lead. Dauda scored eight of his 13 points in the fourth quarter.

Free throws nearly cost the Hawks though, as they missed three front ends of a one-and-one in the fourth quarter, giving the Eagles hope.

Dauda fouled Oldsmar's Chris Perez on a three-point shot with 5.5 seconds left, but Perez short-armed the first free throw and missed the next one long before hitting the last one.

Another missed one-and-one gave Perez another chance, but he missed a layup at the buzzer that would have sent the game into overtime.

Harold Dolby led Oldsmar with 26 points and Perez had 19.
