Miami Dolphins' Ronnie Brown salutes the Bulls
BY JEFF DARLINGTON

If it looked like Dolphins running back Ronnie Brown was having as much fun as a high school kid scoring his first touchdown Monday, then you might be on to something.
Brown's end-zone celebrations -- bouncing up and down in place for several seconds -- were inspired by Miami Northwestern High.
Brown and several teammates (including Northwestern alum Vernon Carey) attended the Bulls' 22-14 victory over Miami Central last Thursday night.
``That's my Northwestern salute,'' Brown said. ``We were sitting there, and none of us had been to a game other than Vernon. All of a sudden, Northwestern scored a touchdown and everyone in the stands started jumping up and down, yelling `Woo! Woo!'
``So I was like, `That's kind of cool!' ''
Listen closely to ESPN's broadcast, and you can hear the ``Woo, Woo'' in the background, too. But Brown still should be careful his teammates don't participate or the No Fun League might hit him in the wallet.
Last year, because he choreographed the Cupid Shuffle with two offensive linemen, Brown was fined $10,000 because group celebrations are prohibited.
``That's just one of those things you've got to do real quick and run off,'' Brown said of the most recent celebration. ``I don't need any more $10,000 fines.''
MORE TRASH TALK
Even with the game over, the Dolphins and the Jets are still talking trash.
Linebacker Channing Crowder had some choice words for New York linebacker Calvin Pace, who called Miami's Wildcat offense ``nonsense'' after Monday's game.
``They `nonsensed' their [butt] all the way up and down the field,'' Crowder said. ``Nonsense, I love nonsense. They say gimmick -- gimmick this, gimmick that. We've won games with the Wildcat. They ran two fake punts. So if you're going to say gimmicks, those are real gimmicks. Wildcat is an offensive formation, they run it for two years. They have thousands of plays on film about it, go stop it.
``Shut up about all the junk talking and whatever they're talking about they ain't going to give us no credit. We'll see them in three more weeks. We got to play them again, so the hell with them.''
ROTH IS READY
When Dolphins linebacker Matt Roth is eligible to come off the non-football injury list Oct. 20, he expects to be back practicing for Miami's rematch against the Jets on Nov. 1. Roth, who missed all of training camp with a strange groin injury, said his workload has increased as his return nears.
``Definitely, the workload's gone up, getting ready to come up to practice,'' Roth said.
Miami Herald sportswriters Armando Salguero and David J. Neal contributed to this report.
