If Tim Hardaway Jr.'s play last week in the John Beilein Elite Camp at the University of Michigan served as an audition, then the son of former NBA star Tim Hardaway nailed it.

Hardaway parlayed that performance at Crisler Arena into a scholarship offer, and the 6-5 senior guard from Miami Palmetto gave his commitment to the Wolverines on Monday, according to Palmetto coach Chris Brown.

''I think it is a great fit,'' Brown said. ``Michigan and Coach Beilein has been on Tim since early. The Elite camp went very well. Tim is everything Michigan expected. He is very skilled and has great instincts -- that is what Michigan loves about him.''

In a breakout junior season, Hardaway averaged a career-best 25.2 points, 10.5 rebounds and six assists to earn All-Dade first-team honors by The Miami Herald.

Hardaway had offers from Kansas State and Minnesota, with the University of Miami, Florida, Oregon, Oregon State, Virginia Tech and Georgia reportedly showing growing interest within the past few weeks.

''Florida jumped on board recently,'' Brown said. ``Tim went up to see coach Billy Donovan last Monday. From there, Tim went on to Michigan and that sealed the deal. Michigan is very excited to get him. I don't think Tim has reached the ceiling of where he is going to be.''
