SIGNINGS
Krop tennis players Billy Federhofer and Mark Schanerman each signed letters of intent this week. Federhofer, ranked No. 4 in the state and No. 15 nationally in the 18's division by the USTA, signed with the University of Florida. Schanerman, ranked in the top 25 nationally, signed with Northwestern.
The two will play doubles this season, as Krop tries to win its third boys' state championship in four seasons.
Softball: Palmetto softball catcher Amanda Marquez signed a letter of intent with Villanova this week. Marquez, The Miami Herald's Class 6A Hitter of the Year, is a three-year starter for the Panthers and is a two-time All-Dade selection. She helped her team win the Class 6A state championship last season.
Marquez is also a starting outside hitter on Palmetto's volleyball team, which will try to advance to the state final four Saturday when it faces Krop in the Region 4-6A final.
Baseball: Monsignor Pace baseball catcher Luis Arrizurieta and pitcher/shortstop Eddie Pidermann will each sign letters of intent to play for Barry University on Friday.
GIRLS' PRESEASON BASKETBALL
Palmer Trinity Preseason classic -- Palmer Trinity 48, Carrollton 45: Katarina Nordqvist led the Falcons with 18 points and six steals. Elise Falcon had nine points, including the game-winning shot in overtime. Madison Lupino had six points and 10 rebounds.
Palmer Trinity Preseason classic -- Ransom Everglades 56, Sagemont 19: Caitlin Sablotsky led the Raiders with nine points and 10 rebounds. Alex Levitt had 13 points and four steals. Lindsey Dernhardt added six points and five steals.
American 54, Southwest 23: Crystal Johnson (AM) had 25 points and four steals. Bianelly Suarez (AM) added 16 points, nine rebounds and four assists.
BOYS' SOCCER
International Studies Charter 8, Doctors Charter 0: Cassio Flor led the Eagles (1-0) with three assists. Gabirel Pessoa had two goals and Jose Santiago had four stops on defense.
Westminster Christian 6, Calvery Christian 0: Stefano Medina led the Warriors (2-0) with two goals and an assist. Justin Moo Young had two goals and Andrian Vega added two assists.
Belen 3, Mater Lakes 0: Robert Grimal, Jose Ferrero and Borja Sadaury each scored a goal for the Wolverines (2-0).
Dade Christian 3, LaSalle 0: Leo Estabrids, Shane Depascuali and George Naranjo led the Crusadors (2-0) with a goal each.
Miami Beach 4, Central 0: Gonzalo Corbo led the Hi-Tides (1-0) with two goals. Pedro Calle and Maximiliano Gomez both scored one goal.
