For the first time, the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life is coming to Sweetwater. The city is hosting the walkathon at Ronselli Park, 250 SW 114th Ave., from 1 to 10 p.m. May 31. The event's goals are to raise funds for the treatment and prevention of cancer and create community awareness.

WESTCHESTER A thief stole a purse and $60 from a 2007 Saturn as the owner entered a bank in the 9100 block of Southwest 24th Street between 5 and 5:15 p.m. May 7. The purse was valued at $80.
ROTARY CLUB OF PERRINE-CUTLER RIDGE/PALMETTO
Randell Rainey spent many long nights searching for scholarships to pay for his college education. It paid off. Randall, a student at the Robert Morgan Education Center who has also been working at Publix, got a recent phone call announcing that he'd won a scholarship from the Rotary Club of Perrine-Cutler Ridge/Palmetto Bay.
