A group of firefighters recently made a donation to the new Coral Gables Museum housed in the historical building that was once Fire Station #1. The firefighters also pledged to continue to volunteer and give financially to the museum on Aragon Avenue. From 1939 to 1975, the building was the original Coral Gables police and fire Station.

BLUE LAGOON AREA A thief stole a radio after breaking a window on a 2005 Nissan in the 7000 block of Northwest 11th Street between 1 and 5:15 a.m. Aug. 24. The radio was valued at $800. Damage was estimated at $300.

After years of sometimes stagnant debate among Miami officials over how to improve two prominent downtown parks, one of them is getting a partial face-lift, thanks to concert promotion giant Live Nation.

CITY OF MIAMI
This time, it appeared, there would be no upsets at Miami City Hall. A year after a well-funded incumbent city commissioner was ousted from office, three other city commissioners faced voters on Tuesday -- and all were headed for re-election.
Through the large glass windows of Great Florida Bank in Little Havana, passersby could see dozens of multicolored children's drawings and people dancing to salsa music.
