Robert Spruiell, an Arizona businessman whose door-to-door magazine sales companies had drawn a flurry of bad publicity, was stabbed to death in Sunny Isles Beach when he confronted a man he believed was trying to sell drugs to his sales people, police said.

One man was killed and two others injured at a Sunny Isles Beach hotel Sunday, Miami-Dade police said. Police said they received a call at 8:30 a.m. from the Golden Nugget Beach hotel at 18555 Collins Ave.

It's been two weeks since a perfect storm of misfortune hit Aventura Mall. First came a botched domestic murder-suicide on May 4 when Alejandro Ruiz, 36, gunned down cosmetics worker Olga Fernandez in the Macy's third-floor parking garage before turning the gun on himself.
