It's been two weeks since a perfect storm of misfortune hit Aventura Mall. First came a botched domestic murder-suicide on May 4 when Alejandro Ruiz, 36, gunned down cosmetics worker Olga Fernandez in the Macy's third-floor parking garage before turning the gun on himself. Fernandez, his ex-girlfriend, survived but was shot in the neck and shoulder.
